• The Victoria Hospitals Foundation is a registered charity that raises funds for Vancouver Island’s two largest and most comprehensive hospitals: Royal Jubilee and Victoria General.
• In 2010-11, the Foundation raised nearly $4.5 million to support these two hospitals.
• Royal Jubilee and Victoria General work together to treat patients with differing needs. These two hospitals are referral centres for the more than 750,000 Vancouver Island and Gulf Islands residents, providing specialty high-level medical care that is not available locally.
• The Foundation works with the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) to fund priority medical equipment and special projects that help improve patient care for everyone on Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands.
• Every year the Foundation funds 40 per cent of capital medical equipment purchases for Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals. The equipment needs of each hospital department are determined in consultation with the Vancouver Island Health Authority and medical professionals.
• The Foundation is governed by a volunteer board of directors who represent a variety of sectors in our community, including finance, law, and health care.
• In 2010-11, the Foundation disbursed $1,783,845 to VIHA for priority medical equipment for the Royal Jubilee and Victoria General Hospitals. The chart below shows donations at work by area of care.

  

  • We devote the highest percentage possible of every dollar we raise towards helping our hopsitals. In 2010-11, our fundraising costs were 17 per cent. 
  • Through the generosity of our donors, funds raised by the Foundation have led to better patient care, faster diagnosis, and more effective treatment for all Vancouver Island residents.
