Cancer Care
The life of each and every Canadian has been touched by cancer, either directly or through the suffering of a family member or friend. Although cancer is one of the most common diseases in Canada, both in terms of number of cases and cause of deaths, British Columbia is a leader in cancer care with some of the most favourable outcomes in North America.

Cancer Care, also known as oncology, is provided at both of our hospitals. The Victoria General Hospital and the Royal Jubilee Hospital work closely with the BC Cancer Agency to provide complete care for cancer patients on Vancouver Island. These two hospitals provide diagnosis and treatment through their medical imaging, laboratory, surgical, and rehabilitation departments. More than 3,000 people are treated at our hospitals for cancer every year.

Victoria General Hospital is home to the region’s Breast Health Centre where women can turn to for information and support, and the Breast Imaging department which performs screening and diagnostic procedures.
