Mental Health
Our hospitals provide a full range of Mental Health services and programs for people suffering from short-term difficulties and those with serious, long-term mental illnesses.

Mental Health professionals work with patients and their families to support individuals in community living situations. Services are provided through the Eric Martin Pavilion, located at Royal Jubilee Hospital, as well as through education programs and ongoing treatment programs for individuals with mental illnesses such as mood disorders or schizophrenia. Royal Jubilee also has a specialized geriatric psychiatry unit, which provides treatment on both an inpatient and outpatient basis.

The Archie Courtnall Centre, located at Royal Jubilee Hospital, is the regional Psychiatric Emergency Services Unit, devoted solely to people who need a comprehensive combination of professional skills to help them effectively and safely get through their most difficult times. Staff and programs at the Archie Courtnall Centre quickly and appropriately assess more than 3,000 patients each year. Emergency services of this nature for adolescents are provided at Victoria General Hospital.
