Through this pivotal journey we have shared all together, we have always been building toward a singular moment in time. This is it.
As advocates for the best possible care at Royal Jubilee (RJH) and Victoria General (VGH) hospitals, we are honoured to invite you into the final, culminating chapter of It’s Time. Phase III: It’s Time for Surgical Transformation, is a defining $43 million vision that will see visionaries in care partner with visionary donors in our community to build four new, state-of-the-art surgical and interventional suites, and usher in an unprecedented level of specialty care for our region.
Phase I and II together have shown us that philanthropy is fundamentally reshaping Island healthcare. Because donors chose to invest $38 million through Phases I and II, we now have first-on-the-Island surgical robotics and best-in-class surgical technology transforming care for our patients, elevating the environment for our caregivers, and strengthening the hospital system for our entire community, including through recruitment of exceptional medical talent.
We have the people and we have the technology. Now, we have the rare opportunity to build the physical footprint that will allow that progress to flourish and expand. For the first time in more than 23 years, new operating rooms (ORs) are coming to RJH. These will be the Island’s very first Hybrid ORs, where advanced imaging and surgery seamlessly come together to support some of the most complex, life-saving procedures in modern medicine. At the same time, a significant expansion of Interventional Radiology (IR)will double capacity, and create new possibilities for minimally invasive, image-guided treatments that allow some patients to avoid major surgery altogether. The spaces will expand our capacity and our capability to advance the future of Cardiac, Vascular, Stroke, Trauma, and Cancer care across our region.
This is the moment when everything we have built together through It’s Time reaches its fullest expression. It brings us immense pride and excitement to see how we can leave our operating rooms vastly stronger than we found them, ensuring Islanders have access to the most advanced care available anywhere in Canada.
Our Island is showing the country what can be achieved—not in spite of our size, but because of it. Few opportunities offer the chance to shape healthcare at this scale, or to leave a legacy that will be felt so deeply for decades to come. Will you join us?
