Victoria Hospitals Foundation Looks to the West Shore; Launches Signature West Shore Gala

Embracing a return to in-person events, the Victoria Hospitals Foundation (VHF) is thrilled to announce the creation of a premiere gala on the West Shore. On Saturday, May 28th, 2022, the Miracle on the Mountain gala will celebrate the impact of Victoria General (VGH) and Royal Jubilee (RJH) hospitals for Vancouver Islanders living on the West Shore and beyond.

“Our local hospitals are referral centres for over 850,000 Islanders – our neighbours, friends, and loved ones. Empowered with priority equipment through donor support, our care teams continue to expand and redefine what is possible right here at home. The greatest gift is the one that allows patients to focus on healing and keeps families together in their communities. We’re delighted to have a new opportunity for our West Shore community and donors to stand with care teams and help our hospitals emerge stronger from the impacts of the pandemic,” says Avery Brohman, Executive Director, Victoria Hospitals Foundation.

The gala will be held at the newly-renovated Westin Bear Mountain resort and marks the Victoria Hospitals Foundation’s first event on the West Shore.

“Our growing West Shore communities have access to world-class hospitals, right here at home. The City of Langford is excited to welcome the Mountain on the Miracle Gala. Events such as these are a wonderful opportunity to showcase the generosity and caring spirit of our community members and provide essential support for the hospitals and care teams we all rely on,” says Langford Mayor Stew Young.

Funds raised at the Miracle on the Mountain gala will support Island-first equipment needs at Victoria General Hospital (VGH) —including an O-Arm device that will advance neurosurgery and keep complex brain and spinal patients close to home— as well as research and innovation projects through the Foundation’s $10-million Emerge Stronger campaign. VGH is Vancouver Island’s referral centre for maternity, pediatric, trauma, and neuroscience treatment. More than 100,000 patients pass through its doors yearly, making it Vancouver Island’s busiest healthcare centre.

Event highlights will include a four-course dinner, live entertainment, and spectacular silent and live auction packages. Guests will have an opportunity to hear from local care teams and grateful patients who will share their powerful stories directly from our hospitals’ front lines.

Tickets for the gala are $300 and can be purchased individually or in tables of 10 at www.MountainGala.ca.

The Miracle on the Mountain gala is generously supported by presenting sponsor The Ratcliff Group: Engel & Völkers Westshore, along with Island Savings, Westin Bear Mountain Resort, One Bear Mountain, Quality Foods, Used.ca, and Maximum Express.
