Statement of Confidentiality
Victoria Hospitals Foundation (VHF) – Volunteers

Volunteer confidentiality is important. It protects information relating to Visions guests, sponsors, and donors that is confidential, personal, or relates to employment, commercial or legal matters.

“Confidential Information” includes information or documents:
1. identifying a VHF donor or sponsor or potential donor or sponsor;
2. disclosing personal information about a donor, sponsor, employee, guest or potential donor, sponsor, employee or guest, or the family members of any such individuals; and
3. containing proprietary information of VHF such as policies and planning documents,
but does not include information or documents which have been intentionally published or disclosed publicly by VHF.

“Personal Information” includes any information disclosed to VHF by an individual or organization which could identify the individual or organization or which was disclosed by the individual or organization in confidence and includes contact information, medical information and financial information.

I agree to keep confidential all Confidential Information, and in particular I agree that I:
1.  Will not discuss Confidential Information other than as may be necessary with VHF staff members;
2. Will not copy any documents containing Confidential Information or rely on Confidential Information for any purpose unrelated to the business of the VHF;
3. Will shred copies of any documents containing Confidential Information in my possession or return such documents to the staff of VHF when such documents are no longer required to fulfill my role as a VHF Volunteer; and
4. Will provide original documents containing Confidential Information to the staff of VHF to ensure that VHF’s obligation to retain such documents is met.

I have read the Statement of Confidentiality presented above. I agree to abide by the requirements of the policy and inform the People & Culture Leader immediately if I believe any violation (unintentional or otherwise) of the policy has occurred. I understand that violation of this policy will lead to disciplinary action, including the termination of my volunteer service with Victoria Hospitals Foundation.
