Every year, the Victoria Hospitals Foundation works with Island Health to determine the most urgent equipment, special projects, education and research needs to provide support for all medical specialties at Royal Jubilee and Victoria General hospitals.

More than 8,900 staff and physicians work in our Victoria hospitals. Their experience, training and teamwork enable them to make quick, informed decisions, but they need the latest equipment to do their best work and perform advanced procedures.
Much like any technology, hospital equipment changes quickly. Ensuring our caregivers have tools of the highest quality means our Vancouver Island patients can continue to receive excellent care. Donor funding allows us to purchase equipment sooner and more often, ensuring leading-edge care for patients across Vancouver Island.
Last year, your generosity brought 170 pieces of equipment into our hospitals.

Last year, your support enabled more than $1,000,000 in education grants and scholarships for 510 Island Health employees as they upgraded their education to further support patients.

In removing financial barriers, you contribute to building a positive workplace culture in our hospitals that is key to the recruitment, engagement, and retention of our care teams.

Island Health is home to world-renowned researchers and clinicians who are influencing healthcare delivery locally, nationally, and globally. Last year, you funded the work of 34 researchers through 16 different projects.
With the help of donors like you, local researchers are generating knowledge to improve healthcare right here in our communities through:
- Clinical trials that uncover the most effective ways to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease
- Application of research evidence to improve health services, support policy decisions, and strengthen our healthcare system
