What To Know Before Visiting Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH)

As A Patient

Transport & Parking

• If you are in need of ambulance assistance, call 911
• Public parking is available outside of the main entrance at the Diagnostic & Treatment Centre, and in the RJH Parkade, located just inside the hospital entrance off of Bay St.
• Outpatient parking is available outside of the West Block entrance.
• Be sure to check the instructions provided with your referral/requisition to see if there are alternative or reserved parking options available for you.
• BC Transit offers bus service to Royal Jubilee Hospital by lines 3, 8,10, & 14
• If you are having difficulty arranging transport or have a long journey, you may be eligible for travel assistance through Island Health.

Checking-In

• If you are in need of urgent care, call 911 or visit the Royal Jubilee Emergency Department. Find estimated emergency wait times here. Wait times may vary based on the severity of your condition.
• For scheduled admissions and medical imaging, check-in at the patient admitting desk at the main entrance of the RJH Diagnostics & Treatment Centre.
• For lab work, visit Royal Jubilee’s West Block
• Check-in locations may vary. Be sure to confirm the check-in location provided through your referral/requisition and plan to arrive early to ensure you can find your appointment location on-time and stress-free.
• When in doubt, visit the patient admitting desk in the Diagnostic & Treatment Centre for directions.

As A Visitor

If you feel unwell or have any respiratory symptoms, please do not visit our facilities.

Transport & Parking

• Visitor parking is available in the RJH Parkade, located just inside the hospital entrance off of Bay St.
• BC Transit offers bus service to Royal Jubilee Hospital by lines 3, 8,10, & 14
• Bicycle parking is available around the Royal Jubilee campus, and inside the RJH Parkade.

Arrival

• Patient rooms are located in the Patient Care Centre (PCC). Enter through the main doors, across the rainbow crosswalk from the Parkade.
• A directory of which units are on each floor is posted outside of the PCC patient elevators. If you are unsure of where to go, check in at the Visitors Desk, just inside the main doors, or ask a staff member.
• If you are dropping off or picking up a patient who has an appointment, check-in at the patient admitting desk at the main entrance of the RJH Diagnostics & Treatment Centre for directions.
• The Victoria Hospitals Foundation’s office is located in Royal Jubilee’s Wilson Block, on the corner of Fort St & Lee St. It is directly across the road from White Spot, next to the Renal Care Unit.

Visiting Patients

• Let staff on the unit know you have arrived before entering the patient’s room.
• Wash or sanitize your hands before entering and exiting patient rooms
• Check in with the unit before bringing gifts or personal items for the patient. Some units have restrictions on items such as flowers and balloons.

Amenities

• For food & beverage, Royal Jubilee Hospital is home to Subway and Good Earth Coffee. Vending machines are also present on some floors.
• A volunteer-run gift shop is located in the atrium of the PCC. All profits are donated back to Royal Jubilee Hospital to fund vital equipment, patient and family services, and caregiver support.
