Caring Spirit: Seniors Health at Mount Tolmie Hospital

Congratulations to the Patient Care Team in Seniors Health at Mount Tolmie Hospital on receiving another Caring Spirit award! The grateful family of one of their former patients has made a donation in tribute to this incredible commitment. The donor’s generosity will directly help to continue and improve patient care in Seniors Health. Thank you.

Residential Care facilities provide 24-hour professional care and supervision to adults in a supportive, secure environment. Publicly subsidized Residential Care Services are available to adults with complex medical and cognitive care needs and an assessed and urgent need for 24-hour care. Services are aimed at meeting the complex health needs of those admitted to a facility and include: accommodation; 24-hour nursing care; other professional services such as nursing, physical therapy, social work and nutritional support; hospitality services  (meals, housekeeping, recreational activity programs, emergency response); personal care assistance; and end-of-life care.

Provided through the therapy department, residents have access to recreational activities such as: an adapted bicycle; the Able Sail Program; live entertainment; multi-denominational church services; seated exercise; a walking program; active games; cognitive/memory related activities; outings; reading groups; a visiting library; UVic speaker series; arts and crafts groups; a pet therapy program; and bingo.

The Victoria Hospitals Foundation would like to thank the Caring Spirit donor for her generous gift and congratulate the Patient Care Team at Mount Tolmie Hospital on the well-earned distinction! Service like theirs immeasurably improves quality of life for people on Vancouver Island.
